I know this is highly dependent on your typical workflow and usage, but it would be interesting to hear folk's perception of their laptop's battery life.

Related: has anyone seen any tests or information on the impact running a lot of emulated apps can have on battery life? A bunch of the apps I run daily are still Intel-only, and many of them use Electron (Station, Polymail, Abstract, and many others). I still get decent battery life (maybe 8-10 hours) so I'm not complaining per se. I am curious, though, what kind of effect Rosetta emulation has.

Base model M1 MacBook Pro, full charge on Saturday, over 4 hours usage so far, brightness just under half way, smashing safari, still got 70 percent left, by now my intel Mac would of been on 30% or lower.

Battery life has been amazing, this is only the beginning, imagine how much more efficient future Macs will be when they realise the M2, M3 chips and so on.

Cant wait for the 16" MacBook Pro, that thing is going to be on another planet when it comes to battery life.

M1 Air checking in. Compared to my previous 16 inch, there is about a 30-40 percent improvement in battery life with mixed use. It tends to hover around 11-12 hours compared to about 6-7 on the 16.

Video playback is where it tends to shine though. With Netflix, I'm seeing about 15-16 hours of playback on a single charge compared to about eight hours on the 16. It's also more efficient in certain programs that would have drained the 16 inch MacBook Pro. For instance, Popcorn Time gives me about 12-13 hours as opposed to about 5 hours on the 16.

a battery metric I'd like to know: Chrome or Edge (native or not) with about 20 tabs open and streaming audio on one of the tabs. I listen to a lot of SiriusXM and that tab easily uses 20% or more of the resources.

Base mba m1 using only safari or (new) chrome. I got three days light use (3-5 hours per day, a couple tabs open with Music AirPlaying to Homepods, some FaceTime calls, messaging all day, a 20 minute google meet call, etc.) before charging, and that was only because I was around 20% battery. The battery life is amazing.
