Hi. I need help with purchase.

I will be editing red raptor 8K raw footage on davinci and need something fast to render and export.

I saw a video of M1 iMac with 8gram do amazing off of proxies.

The owner of i9 wants $1500 for his 2019 iMac. Is it worth to get the 2019 or purchase a new 16g ram M1 iMac 2021 for video editing

iMac Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2019
3.6 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9
32 GB 2667 MHz DDR4
Radeon Pro 580X 8 GB

Go with the M1 iMac 2021:

1. It's faster (per Mactracker)
2. It's new and will have a warrenty. You don't know the history of the old iMac
3. It's almost the same price
4. I *BELIEVE* Video Rendering does not require a lot of RAM, and is processor intensive. The extra RAM will not help speed up the video render time

Go with the 2019 iMac if you need the bigger display

M1
it has media processors inbuilt for video processing unlike intel
so it is faster in video especially editing and scrolling, rendering also a bit faster
just get 16 gb of ram
