I got my 8g/512 on Friday and I thought I would share some what I found. I am a strictly average user, no video work or photo work. Just my average home use and light gaming. I had purchased a 2020 space grey 6 months ago I5 8g/512. On that Mini it being my 3rd I was disappointed on how it performed. It was okay but it wasn't what I had hoped. Now the M1 one is , all I can say is wow! It just flies, I am not saying benchmarks, it is just fluid fast, Safari is crazy fast but also the new chrome arm build is twice as fast as it was on Intel I5. File transfers just zoom from my Samsung T7. It is silent and so far I have not seen any ram issues. Matter of fact at idle the wired memory is less than my Intel one was. I have yet to get it out of green area and I have tried. I am a World of Warcraft player so I loaded that up and again its unreal. 60fps at 1080P. Level 10 settings with Cmaa on. I did see a few times in broken isles it dipped to 40 plus briefly but solid play. Dropping it back to level 7 and its locked at 60 fps. Ram usage with WoW running windowed was hovering in App 6meg range with world at 2.6meg. I played for good hour or so and no fan noise at all. It shocking seeing this run on low watt low temps when I have a tower sitting there with big Nvidia card and all the fans. I had no issues with updates and all the native M1 apps are so fast. Guess I have 2020 I5 mini to sell now sigh, I should have waited. I never expected this quantum leap in performance. Hope this helps anyone. Happy Holidays all!

So the new machine you bought was a Mini? That detail seems to be missing from your description.
