I have the 16gb M1 Mac mini with a CalDigit TS3 Plus connected to it. The mini is constantly disconnecting power to the hub, and the only way to fix it is with a restart. The hub keeps power, but all the devices disconnect, and will only re-connect with a restart.

Anyone else have any sort of issue like this? .. I've made sure the hub is running the latest firmware, but for the life of me can't figure out what's going on. It has to be a power consumption issue with the Thunderbolt powers on the Mac mini. The Mini its self never powers off, just the hub, thus losing connection to all the devices.

Thanks for any input anyone has.

I'm running this same configuration (M1 Mac mini 16gb, CalDigit TS3 Plus), and not experiencing any issues like that (I previously ran the TS3 Plus with a 2019 15" MacBook Pro and didn't have any issues with it either). Sounds like you might need to exchange the TS3!

My suggestion is that you contact CalDigit tech support and get their evaluation of your setup. You can probably get them on the phone or chat pretty quickly, I would be doing that immediately.

I also have the TS3 Plus connected to my iMac and I think it is great, no issues.

Yeah everything is connected correctly. The TS3 was working perfect on my iMac, it's just been since connecting it to the M1 Mini that the issues have arose.

I had the same issue with the TS3+ and my 16" MBP. The solution was to delete a particular launchdaemon, launch agent or kext (can't remember which) for something or other… an audio interface, I think. I narrowed it down by moving all my non-Apple launchdaemon/launchagents/kexts out of their folders in groups and restarting until I found the one causing the problem. All good ever since.

EtreCheck the Pro version ($17.99) could be very helpful in that exercise.
I have been using it to remove 32 bit apps and old stuff like unsigned kexts and such.
It also helps to debug problems.

BTW EtreCheck is free.
The Pro version can be bought from within the app.

I am experiencing this exact issue on the same machine, an M1 Mac mini with 16GB of RAM. Wondering if the OP ever got the bottom of this and found a solution?

I am having this exact issue on the same machine, same configuration. Did you ever figure out the cause and a solution?

I had external ssds and ethernet disconnects on my M1 Pro Max (macos 12.5.1) while connected thru a caldigit TS3.
I swapped out the TS3 with a OWC TB dock but experienced the same disconnects. So It seems macos 12.5.1 has issues with TB docks. So I swapped out the TB docks for a USB dock and I have no disconnects since.

I'm having the same issue here. I used to have 2 monitors (one ultrawide as my primary and another 4K monitor oriented vertically at 270* rotation as a secondary) and all my peripherals running off one cable from my Caldigit TS3+ to my 2016 MPB with no problems.

I knew that when I got the Mac mini with the M1 chip I'd have to have at least one monitor connected directly into the Mac mini, so I did that first and kept the secondary monitor attached to the TS3+. I was starting to get weird problems like my secondary monitor would just not be recognized until I disconnected the TS3+ and reconnected it, or the secondary monitor (which I had set to 270* rotation) would revert back to 0* and all the apps that were on that secondary monitor would move over to the primary monitor every time the Mac mini would go to sleep. I tried plugging the secondary display directly to the Mac mini via a HDMI to USB-C converter and that seemed to help with the rotation resetting each time it went to sleep, but then I'd get weird issues with blurry lines on the screen, the screensaver showing up on the wrong monitor, and a slew of other problems. If I connect everything back to the original setup and connect to my MBP again, all the problems go away. If anyone has any advice, please let me know. I'm desperate because this is incredibly frustrating and hindering to a good workflow.
