Hi,

just found out (with iStatMenus) that my quite new MBA M1 only has 98% battery health. After 8 load cycles.

How could that be? What about your stats concerning battery health? Anyone still at 100%?

It is an estimate. Keep an eye on it longer term to find out what the real battery degradation is over time. Only 8 cycles is too short to make any determination of battery life.

I somehow feel like the battery health percentage on istat menus isn't accurate for M1 macs.

Saying this because I'm currently on a new M1 MBA I got yesterday with 2 battery cycles, and istat menus is telling me the health is 2% and the condition is "Service Battery". The MacOS system information, on the other hand, tells me the maximum capacity (is this the same as battery health?) is 100% and the condition is "Normal".

I'm inclined to trust the MacOS system information over the istat menus information given that this is a brand new M1 MBA, and the battery is certainly behaving more like being at 100% than 2%!

It’s a known fact that the air always comes with less then design capacity.

I have a pro and have been keeping the battery within the 25-77% range and my battery is staying at about the 101-102% capacity stage.
