Hello!

I am receiving a new 2021 M1 MacBook Pro tomorrow and would like to start prepping for setup. I currently have a 2017 MacBook Pro and from time to time I need to configure networking devices via serial port (sometimes DB9, mostly RJ45).

Right now I try to use Royals TSX with this Cable Matters cable. I may be doing something wrong, but it really is hit or miss whether or not this works. It's a pain.

Based on this thread and the fact that the cable has an FTDI chip, it looks like I should be good to go with the screen /dev/tty.usbx method, which I wasn't familiar with until seeing that thread.

So, has anyone figured out a reliable way to consistently use a serial port on an M1 Mac? Or Mac in general? Working in Royals would be great for the shortcuts and GUI, but is the screen command the best way?

Any advice or tips is greatly appreciated!
