Searching only showed the low power mode thread so I thought I'd ask the question. How are people finding battery life on M1 systems on Monterey? I've found it to be quite poor, obviously it's to be expected on a beta so that's all well and good - but I'm curious to see what other people are experiencing. On my current charge cycle, I'm at 18% after ~4 hours of use.

The beta runs a lot of spindump and tailspind in background. So unless you manually disable them, it will be better to wait for the final release to see how how long the battery will last.

Yes of course, makes total sense - I am just curious to see what others' experiences are like.

Hoping a new beta today will help with the battery (yes I know it's a beta, really love using it before it's ready haha). My M1 MacBook Pro has never gotten hot since I bought it and rarely needed charged and now after the beta it needs recharged while in use and the fans kick on (still can't hear them but know they're on). If you look at my battery graph anytime the computer is in use its a free fall graph and anytime its in standby no energy is used. It seems that my ridiculous amount of tabs in the new Safari or maybe just the new Safari is causing it on my machine.

I'm on an M1 MB Pro, I reckon my battery life on Monterey 12.01 is 60% of what it was on Big Sur. I mainly use MS Office and Firefox, so nothing heavy. Before the upgrade I didn't care about battery life, if I took it off the charger at 9am it would go until lunchtime the following day. It's also hotter.
