Hi everyone,

I'm a bit confused about how M1 Macs / Big Sur have changed Power Nap.

On my M1 machine I can't see the option to enable or disable Power Nap. Is it not possible to have my Messages/iCloud updates happen while it's sleeping (on battery power)?

At the moment all my iCloud/Messages updates only happen once I've woken the computer up and opened the lid.

This is a downgrade if so, especially given the battery life improvements on this thing.

well, I'm not experiencing battery drain, as I'm using the MBA m1 as a desktop now due to covid, but whenever it does sleep, it abruptly disconnected external drives connected to the caldigit ts3 dock no matter if they are usb, thunderbolt or other, even through a time machine backup, in the long run, this can't be good for my raid unit, can it? any advice on how te prevent macOS big sur m1 from killing the drives while mounted and in use, through a power nap, if say, I'm away from the computer for a while??

Is your Big Sur updated? Apple should have fixed this behaviour few weeks ago.
