Love it!

Yes, this Mac Studio is super cool running, no fans and quiet.

Very much unlike all the Intel Macs of the past...
There are two fans constantly running on the Mac Studio.
Some people said it's audible, many said it's not.
Amongst the Apple Silicon Macs only the M1 MacBook Air does not have fans.
However, for instance, the fans on my 14 inch MacBook Pro seldom turn on under normal operations.

Really? I cannot believe that.

My Mac Studio is a nightmare in fan noise. It is super annoying with its cheap fan noise. The constant annoying noise of the Mac Studio gives me a headache. But instead of throwing it out of the window, I now finally throw it at Apples feet. Here's your stuff Apple. I am deeply disappointed, just in case you care at all.

Just to relate: I had a couple of Macs in the past with big fans and loud hard discs but the Mac Studio is by far the worst experience I ever had with Apple. Only because of the fans.

Under load or idle?

Cause under load its quiet compared to Intel Macs.

Compared to all the Mac Mini's I've had, the Studio Max is the loudest by far, under load or idle. And it's louder than my i9 Windows desktop at idle. (but not under load by a good margin.). It's acceptable, but it is indeed there, no matter how many people question it.

And I'm someone with upper range hearing loss.

edited for spelling and grammar -- that'll teach me to not respond just after I wake up. :)

Yes agree - the Mac Studio is ever so quiet - just like the M1 Mini I traded in.

Compared to my 2019 16" MBP which sounds like white noise generator constantly hearing the fans spin up is annoying when you compare it to the Mac Studio's ultra quietness on the same desk...

Honestly it can't be any worse than my 2019 iMac i9. This thing sounds like a jet engine when running under any kind of load.

The quality of the fan noise is not so pleasant in mine but not loud and I rarely notice it.

Fortunately, my 10Gb router / switch fan drowns out the noise of the Studio's fan, if it's on. ;)

hmm, some people say its quiet. Some loud.

Have you ever used an intel iMac under max load. Both CPU and GPU. They get loud.

Mac Studio is not that bad. You can however make it so manually via Macsfancontrol.

Not to derail your thread and provide some useful info. If your office noise 25-30dB - you will hear it clearly. 30-35 you may hear it a little. Somewhere between 35-45 it becomes “silent”.

Ah yes, this ”reviewer“. She came into the “max studio is Loudest mac at idle” thread to promote her video, ignored all the information and replied to me:

“Sorry, I have no idea from where you get your info, but I own Mac Studio M1 Max and M1 Ultra and both under even super crazy heaviest load I ever tested it never spin fans more than idle which is 1340 rpm = also idle noise which is ABSOLUTELY NOT POSSIBLE TO NOTICE IN SILENT OFFICE”

Not understanding that the information was directly from Apple or understanding that room ambient noise is the largest factor determining whether you will hear it or not.

Basically, she’s the perfect YouTuber!

The last iMac I used was the Bondi Blue iMac. As well as many other Macs incl. 68k before and Intel after. The Mac Studio is the worst of all. The annoying noise is unbearable.
And that I should use Mac Fans Control is a bad joke, for a 2k to 8k machine.

looks Macbook 16" is best for you. It turns its fan off in idle.

My room is about 40-45 decibels as measured by an iPhone 13 Mini. I hear my Studio Max easily from 2 feet away. Again, it's not annoying, but I can definitely hear it.

It is way quieter than my 2020 (Intel) MacbookAir. Maybe not as quiet as my Mini M1, but I have to try hard to hear it. All the externals are SSD so there's little ambient noise coming from them or any other peripherals. But everybody's hearing is different; some people have extremely sensitive ears. Thats why some think it makes no noise and some think it makes unacceptable noise.

My studio max is silent uder load and it is sitting on my desk a foot away. This is in a silent or as close as you can get office space.
