Hi,

I have 14" MBP 10-core, 64gb ram, 2tb ssd and when I edit 8k 4:2:0 10-bit video in FCP X 10.6.1
the laptop stutters(skipping frames warning pops up) as i scrub through video without proxy files.

I was hoping this laptop would be able to able to edit 8k without creating optimized media or proxies.

It does, however, export 8k to 1080p really fast. So is there a solution to editing 8k without proxies/optimized
video on 14-inch MBP?

I also tried editing on battery as well as adapter power but no difference. Laptop was still stuttering.

Wait for the fcp update. It’s in the fine print on the macbook pro and Mac studio pages, they did their testing with pre-release software.

That is one thing I wish these reviewers would pay attention to. I have already seen some that state "not worth it for video editing" or "barely any difference".

Thanks. The laptop is incredible in all aspects. editing 8k is vital for me so i am hoping fcp x is refined so stuttering goes away.

I downloaded resolve 17 last year but have not had a chance to go back and learn it as i have been busy working with fcpx. Will wait for possible FCP X update hopefully that will clear it. strange thing is activity monitor only shows fcp x using about 50% of gpu/cpu power even when exporting. i am using m1 max with 64gb and 2tb drive.
