Hi,

My M1 MacBook Air (2020 model) does not recognize the charger (and therefore does not charge) completely randomly, on both ports. Once every 10, 20 or 30 times I plug it in, the computer eventually recognizes it and charges.

Even more surprising: I realized that by plugging the charger into another device (my smartphone for example) for a second, and then plugging it into the Macbook, then it works every time! But, if I unplug and then plug the charger back in after using the phone trick, then it no longer recognizes it (still doesn't matter which port).

Does anyone have an idea about the origin of the problem? I would like to avoid having to plug the charger into my phone each time before charging my computer...

Thanks!

Do you have optimized battery charging checked in the Battery System Prefs panel? That can delay charging though usually it will give you information like this MacBook will be charged by 5 AM or something like that.

I have tried unchecking optimized battery charging, but I don't think the problem comes from that.
