Is it possible to disable sleep mode, have the display off and close the lid?

I use Opera browser to download and upload files to Google drive.

The transfers shows network disconnect after a certain time or it timeouts.

Tried to use Amphetamin and it somewhat works but I need to enable mouse movement which leads to display being on even though I close the lid.

Any suggestions?

TIA

You can't disable sleep in that scenario, so your easiest action is not to close the lid. If you really want to turn off the internal display, set a hot corner in System Preferences to "Put display to sleep".

System Preferences->battery->Power Adapter

Check the box for 'Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when display is off'.

You might need to uncheck 'Put hard disks to sleep when possible'.

Edit - I use an external display with MacBook in clamshell.

Edit: Sorry about the double post.
