I’ve got $480 in Apple gift cards and my plan for months was to use it on a new M2 Pro but, well, yeah. I’d rather just save a bit and use it on a discounted M1 iPad Pro but how? Anyone have an idea when the M1s will hit the refurb store?

iPad Pro M1 Pro Refurb Where Art Thou?

The A12X and A12Z iPad Pros hit the refurb store in large numbers maybe a month after M1 iPad Pro release.
Gah, another month of waiting. I wish the M2 Pro was good enough so I could just give them my money.
Only reason I'd even consider the M2 is if I felt like it would stay in support for longer or get some unique feature. It just doesn't seem that much more powerful
Do you have a student in your household? EDU pricing can be quite comparable to refurb pricing.
Actually, I do. $50 off can't really be comparable to what the refurb price will be, is it?
I’m hoping it’ll be $300 off as a refurb or clearance. Patiently waiting also since we have a $150 Apple gift card from my wife’s computer purchase this summer. Can’t happen soon enough!
Discount on the entry level configurations tend to be lower. Where you really see big savings is on high capacity and cellular models.
You might save just $50-100 more on refurb vs EDU pricing on entry level.
This doesn’t apply to the US, but for those of us that live in countries that have seen big price increases, the refurbished devices could be even more attractive than usual.
Take the UK for example. The base M1 iPad Pro was £749, with a discount of 15% that would be, say, £629 to £639. The new M2 iPad Pro starts at £899, so that’s a 30% discount. It’s hard to justify the extra money for what is a small upgrade over an already good device.
It’s also worth mentioning that the base model 5th-generation Air has increased in price from £569 to £669. A refurbished M1 iPad Pro would represent a saving of £30 to £40 for a model with double the storage and additional features.
Maybe they'll wait a little longer before introducing the refurbished M1 Pros in some countries.

I would have liked to order a Gen 5 12.9 from the refurb store, but I have never seen them available, and have been looking a while now. Only Gen 3 and 4. Not sure Gen 5 will be available any time soon given how "close" the Gen 5 and 6 are. They want to sell new stuff before refurb. Normally I use the refurb store but ended up ordering a new Gen 6 for lack of options.
I've also been scouring the Apple Canada site for M1 refurbs but I don't know if they're going to come out anytime soon. Most sites aren't lowering the prices on the M1 iPads. They're just giving the option of buying the older versions for the same price, and the newer ones for a higher price.
I was waiting for them on the Apple store as well. However I checked Amazon & got a renewed M1/1TB/Cellular for $1099 and added a 4 yr. Amazon warranty for $169. Mine looks absolutely new.
If M1 iPad Pros make it to the refurb store in the UK they will be snapped up fast as the discounts will seriously undercut the M2 ones. I'd suspect that once discounts at third party retailers become more common we will see the M1 iPad Pros become available.
Most UK M1 stock cleared on day 1 of the M2 release (in all storage sizes other than largest, silly priced models) after everyone saw the price hikes. Not sure where the discounts will come from?
There's were decent discounted M1 iPad Pros before the m2 came out too. Those discounts definitely evaporated as retailers see that they can clear those out at retail price with the M2 models costing a lot more.
