I know there are tons of videos, threads etc. out there, comparing m1 and m2, pro and max. Watched lots of them, and I was on the fence about if it was worth it to upgrade.
I was using a 16 mbp m1 pro, 16gb 1T, in clamshell mode, connected to two lg 32" 4k via DP. And it always felt somewhat sluggish (tiny bit).
Pulled the trigger mainly to upgrade ram, an 14 mbp m2 max, 32gb 1T. Boy, this thing is a beast. My guess is, 2 external displays were stressing m1 pro, and the difference between it and m2 max is amazing.
Just my 2 cents, if you're using m1 pro & multiple external displays, give m2 max a try. Might not be worth it for "laptop" users, but definitely worth it in "desktop" mode.
