Hello,

I am relatively new to MacBooks. Just purchased a new M1 MBA. I noticed after closing the lid (putting into sleep mode) I lose a few percentage of battery each day. Is this normal? Is there a way to prevent this? I occasionally don’t get to use my MBA for a week at a time. Thanks!

Any battery will drain a little, even when unused. This will happen on any device at all.
Sleep however is importantly not powered off either. If you're not going to leave it for a long time, sleep can be better since there's more that needs to happen to power off and power on again, but if you leave it a whole week, turning it off entirely is likely going to save you more battery life

This is the first MacBook I’ve ever owned that won’t empty itself fast and often in sleep mode, sure, sometimes my previous MacBooks would hold their change, but I could never fully trust it.

1-2% per day, that’s pretty amazing. I left my M1 Air for a week, it lost 7%.

I just leave my work M1 Air over the weekend or holiday, and so far I’m good to go when I get back to work.
