Is anybody else experiencing a jittery cursor/skipped frames/occasional jumping with their M1 MBP trackpad?

I moved from a 2020 Intel MBP to a 2020 M1 MBP and within minutes noticed a lag/skipping effect that wasn't present using the Intel. The "skipping" happens very frequently and across apps/independent of the workload.

I returned the initial M1 I purchased thinking it was a faulty machine, but the issue persisted with my replacement and now on the newest Big Sur update. I haven't been able to find anybody else mention this issue so I'm a bit confused what's going on here.

I'm not sure because my last MacBook was a 2013 MacBook Air and trackpads were very different back then, but the palm rejection on my new M1 MBP has been terrible. Often times the cursor will just stop moving, and I need to pick my hand up and put it back down on it. I also tried an M1 MBA for a week and it didn't seem as bad.

I am having a strange issue where a command click doesn't work. The trackpad is not pressable in the lower right, which is where I usually click, but only if I have a modifier key pressed

No issues, base model M1 pro, smooth as butter.

You have Chrome installed?

Apparently chrome has caused some issues for a lot of people, made their Macs lag and heat up.

I am wondering what you have installed. Does it do it from a completely clean install with no additional programs installed? are you wearing any magnetic jewellery ? might sound strange but I work in IT and when I was on 2nd line we had issues with people with magnetic clasps on jewellery affecting windows pc trackpads and turning off screens :) just a thought .

Do you have any 3rd party USB-C dongles or display adapters plugged in? I had a very similar issue with a knock-off of the Digital AV Multi-port adapter on my 2018 MBP. Although I just recently started using it again on the 2018 MPB and it hasn't occurred again. I seems to work fine on my M1 MBA, but haven't logged a whole lot of time with that adapter on that machine yet.

I have a similar issue that occurs only when a key is pressed. The top part of my trackpad won’t register taps after pressing a modifier key. I’m unsure if this is a software bug or perhaps hardware related? It’s really odd because everything else works just fine except after pressing a key

Update: Received my replacement unit and it has the exact same issue. This makes me believe that its actually an intended behavior or perhaps specific to the M1 MacBooks. It's odd because my old 15" 2017 MacBook Pro never had this problem. Apple tech support could have saved me time if he just did a quick test on an M1 machine. There wasn't a point in me returning my original MacBook to Apple.

Maybe you could run the hardware test.
Shutdown the machine.
Press & hold the power button until the options screen shows.
Press CMD & D keys to begin.
See if any errors show up.

Just FYI, mine had this problem for a couple months, but it was solved after a macOS update (don't remember which one).
