M1 Ultra's CPU is powerful enough with 20 cores but the question is how powerful will GPU 64 cores will be? Some say it will be as powerful as RTX 3090 but no clues so far especially since there aren't many software to test with.

For example, video editing softwares are heavily benefiting from media engine and ProRes encoder/decoder so not clearly sure if GPU is using 100% performance. For gaming, Baldur's Gate 3 is the only AAA game to test Apple Silicon.

I'm curious to see how M1 Ultra will perform compared to RTX 3090 since Apple brought 3090 as a comparison!

People are also testing World of Warcraft that is AAA on native metal api
Probably 300fps for the ultra and 400 for the 3090 (both tested with the same x settings) but with double or triple the power consumption

All the reviewers were gushing about the performance of the M1 Max in the MacBook Pros. So the performance in the Ultra will be even better. I don't think anyone has to worry about the performance of the GPU in the Ultra.

I hope more high end software support macOS. For 3D, Nvidia is still dominating with better performance as they are only optimized for CUDA.

Without specific testing in apps it’s difficult to tell (marketing is always vague specifically for this reason).

I have no doubt the ultra will crush everything in prores-heavy tasks. But in pure tflops NVidia cards will win (kinda the point of apple silicon, more efficient performance)

In tasks which heavily leverage vram the ultra should be ahead, but things that are typically cuda-leveraged will likely be a solid win for NVidia.

Anything raytraced is likely to be a hands down victory for NVidia.

Games are going to be a default win for NVidia, that’s just a fact.
