Usually, I connect my M1 16GB Mini to my studio display - but I connected my MBP M1 MAX and noticed the whole experience on the studio display feels much snappier, and smoother, and even colors look better. This shocked me - I figured the speed differences were for gaming and hardcore intensive tasks - not the day-to-day small tasks. Has anyone else noticed this? I'm having a hard time wanting to use the m1 now lol!

That's a surprising (and thus interesting) finding. Do you have another montior you could try this with?

Assuming both machines run the same version of MacOS - can you kindly check via ColorSync wether they are using the same color profile? That would be my first guess on what’s the reason for color differences.

Nothing but anecdotal evidence here but I can attest to a similar experience regarding the snappiness/smoothness of the M1 Max vs the OG M1 when using an external display(s.)

When I first got my M1 Max MBP it felt like a huge leap in performance running two 4K monitors compared to my M1 MBA (thermal modded) running even one 4K screen.

Can't say I noticed a difference in color saturation though.
