I will wait for real life comparisons, but the estimations by Apple seem to indicate no improvement in battery life. Is this correct?

Same node and more needed performance so why would battery life increase? Stated battery life is best case with video decode but suspect full load CPU/GPU to take a hit.

Since it's largely better for battery life than most mainstream computers on the market, of course that's not been the design focus.

The M1 was basically the old intel airbook with a new motherboard - no changes, keep same client base, blow them away with performance and battery life.

M2: improve performance, make the changes that the macbook pro brought and other basic upgrades (magsafe, better camera, various other modest improvements).

I held off on the M1 airbook and because using a desktop more these days, decided to hold off upgrading, was wavering about the M1 macbook pro. The M2 hits all the main points I desire (magsafe esp).
