I was a bit surprised that Apple used screenshots of After Effects in their product marketing for the M2 MacBook Air.

Has anyone here tried AE on the M1 Air yet (the M2 is not yet in customers hands) to see how well it works?

Please let me know.
Thanks.

Oh, a LONG time ago - like in Jan-Feb of 2021. It was an okay experience, definitely not great. Now that it's M1-optimized, it should be a lot faster.

I know Adobe did something big with AE this spring that supposedly made the M1 quite alright according to them. But I haven't tested it myself nor do I have an M1 close by at the moment.

AE could run on a toaster depending on how complicated you make the comps so I suppose the follow-up question here is how heavy stuff are we interested in here? :)

I can take a look at an undisclosed TV-network's carting graphics on an M2 later this month and see how fast they render if that helps.
