So we’ve seen Apple’s M1X chips now they are the M1 Pro and M1 Max. With that said it’s gonna be hard to beat an M1 iPad Pro. But when can we realistically expect an M2 iPad Pro ? Will it be 3nm or 5nm ? As of August 2021 TSMC has stated in public that 3nm is delayed.

p.s. I have a sneaky feeling that few on this forum even care, most blew all their cash on the spectacular 12.9” M1 iPad Pro or myself $3500 on the 14.2” M1 Max MacBook Pros just this week.

Your guess is as good as anyone else's. And yes, I blew my cash on the 2021 12.9 and don't care as it will be good for a long time and particularly given Apple's trend on pricing.

Yep. I'm good with the M1 iPad Pros for at least 3 years. Probably longer.

Sufficient RAM was one of my gripes with iPads and they delivered that with the 2021. Processing performance has been overkill for my usage for quite a while. At this point, I can't think of anything that will induce me to spend another $2K to upgrade for a good while.

There never was a M1X, that’s simply a placeholder name for those who don’t know what was coming.

An update to the Pro 12.9 could be due sometime between fall 22 and spring 23 or whenever Apple does see fit.

I agree.

I honestly struggle to see a future for the IPP. The 2021 M1 is so far ahead of iPad OS it will take a decade to wear out.

They can deliver improvement, but I struggle to see anything that would make me jump at the IPP price point.
