see, my i9-mbp gets on my nerves as soon as I connect it to an external screen
as it switches to the dedicated graphics adapter or something... and the fans go up to 3-4000rpm, just for that.
I can't have a machine that turns into a hoover when connecting a screen or doing a search through a fat pdf in preview.

so, what about the m2pros? better, or the same? or even worse?

do the m2s have 2 graphics adapters, too?
or is there any other major switch in hardware happening when connecting them to an external screen?

I have an M1 Max (32GB) macbook Pro (24 GPU cores) that I use almost exclusively connected to an external monitor (a dell 4k set at 3360x1890) through USB C and the only time I hear the fans is during heavy 3d rendering.
So I'd say the machine will most likely be silent if you're not into heavy 3d stuff - and honestly I don't think there exists a non noisy machine for those jobs. Everything else is super quiet.
