M2 Pro 16” Charge Wattage

Hey all!

Just trying to find some concrete answers here! Do I need the 140W charger for my pro (2023 M2 Pro) or can I use a lower wattage charger?
Seems to be many conflicting answers all over the internet :/

You can use lower, it just may take longer to charge. And if you go too low it's possible at high power usage you may even draw some power from the battery!

Agree with @mfram. I barely used the 140W charger in the last 16 months (purchased in May 2022). Most of the time, my MBP 16 was connected to a Dell TB3 Dock which provides 90W power. Battery is till 100% per "System Information", and 99.1% per coconutBattery.
