Hello everyone,

I have a 14inch M2pro MBP and I notice the following battery life usage. Went from 94% to 45% with 6 hours of using it.Any opinions? Laptop is brand new, I have it for just one week with 3 charges so far. Should I wait more to have a stronger view?
Thanx in advance!

it all depends on what level of brightness you have display settings set at.
if 100% then you'll get much less than Apple advertise.
as per Ynk's comment, 6 hours for 50% is pretty darn good

It also depends on what apps you're running. For example, Adobe apps will drain the battery faster than just browsing in Safari.

It's better than the M1 from what I hear, but if you wanna stretch it I'd turn down brightness, use low power mode, maybe turn of XDR, there's little ways to get more out of it when on battery. 6 hours seems pretty good tho, I've always heard the 14" has the worst battery of all the MacBooks but 6 is still respectable especially depending on the tasks. Sara Dietschy said she got about 6h50m while doing things like Notion, movies, some video editing, etc. Better than the 3-5 hours the M1 version was used to getting anyways.

Hopefully you weren't doing the test while spotlight was running too, I've heard that's a drain altho not sure how it works these days with the ARM chips and SSDs maybe it's much faster.

FWIW I have just got a 14 inch M2 and it is hugely better than the HP Spectre 360 I tried ... and about the same as my M1 MBP ... it does very much depend what you are doing but go to a Windows machine and you would be lucky to get 3 hours for that ! I know I had one and sent it back !! I thought they had sorted their issues but they haven't and Mac's are waaaay ahead !
