Is the slower speed of the M2 Air 256GB SSD a noticeable difference in day to day use for non-heavy users?

I'm thinking of picking up a MacBook Air, currently deciding between the M1 and the M2 air. I have a windows desktop machine for heavy use, so I don't need a whole lot of power. MBA would be for use in bed, on the couch, and just lighter use. If I go with the M1 Air, I can either save money, or go with 16GB of ram for the same money as a base M2. If I go with an M2, I would stay with the base model (8GB RAM / 256GB SSD).

I've seen posts about the 14" MBP being only a bit more than the M2 Air, but that seems like it's only like that in the US. It's about $1,000 CAD price difference between the two in Canada, so not really a close price up here.

Thanks.

I have an M1Pro (1TB/16GB) for work and and M2 Air (base 8GB/256GB) as secondary/couch computer. For every day computing tasks (Safari, MS Edge/Brave, MS Office, Photos, email etc.) lots of tabs and windows open - the two machines are indistinguishable.

Don't get me wrong, when I need to edit video or do some Logic Pro work I'm not going to do it on the Air. I haven't installed those apps on this machine.

But for daily computing work this machine is excellent. Literally no difference to my M1 Pro.
