I am waiting for Apple’s Back to School promotion to start in Canada, but when it does, I will buy a new M2 Max Mac Studio.

I am considering using an 65” 8k TV as a display. Has anyone tried this? Does the Studio wake a TV from sleep when it’s connected with HDMI?

Thanks. I was already aware of the Apple support documents on the topic. I am looking for testimony from users who have actually tried an 8k TV with their Studio M2 Max or Ultra (or any other M2 Pro, M2 Max, or M2 Ultra Mac).

Does work, does wake. Can’t get it to go faster than 60hz though. Might fare better over dp? Dunno, happy with it as it is.

Which TV are you using it with?

My understanding is that HDMI 2.1 ports on the M2 Pro and Max machines can drive 8k @60hz or 4k @240hz.

Anyone else seen success?

I’ve even got those speakers :)

Tbh 55” is a bit too big. Especially on a Mac, where the menu is right at the top of the screen. 48” would be more comfortable, but you can’t get 8k screens that small. I’m considering getting a VESA mount so I can place the bottom edge at desk level, bringing the top edge down a couple of inches.
