Pre-orders are already out to mid July for the high spec ones, and I do prefer the security of in-store pickup, but I'm not sure how this works lately.

Anyone more familiar with Apple's patterns, able to tell me if I'd be able to buy most configs in store when they go on sale next week? Or is any customization from the default selections (say, 60 core gpu, 192 gb ram, 4tb ssd) going to mean it HAS to be an order and I should just jump in line now?

Second question - shipping for in-store pick up is currently unavailable. Any idea why/when that becomes an option?

NYC walk up means I don't love the idea of having a $7k computer get dropped off in my hallway at random :/

Although too early to say configurations in the store will likely be very limited. At least that the way it was in the past.

Once they start shipping next week in-store pickup might become available.
