The M1 Ultra is magnificent. But I have a question. Does it have a proper HDMI 2.1 port ?

And WiFI 6E. ?

These are dealbreakers for me. Thanks to VR and 120hz OLED monitors.

It does not have HDMI 2.1 But your 120hz OLED monitor should have a usb-c connection which is what apple displays use as well.

So far, no Apple devices have WiFi 6e radios.

Absolutely ridiculous it doesn’t have a 2.1 HDMI port in 2022 for two grand, so I’d have to buy an adapter for that to get 120Hz. 🙄

sorry new to this, what adapter will achieve 120hz if I pair this with my oled tv?
Don’t know of any, just assumed, but I’ve just read in another thread a USB-C/Thunderbolt adapter won’t allow it to output 120Hz anyway as the chip just doesn’t do 120Hz. 😔

Apple does not support 4k 120hz over HDMI 2.1. It’s a licensing issue that they’ll turn into a marketing gimmick in two years—Apple does not license 2.1 and they’re so stingy I bet they’ll try to make a special Apple cord that only they sell to do it.

On my M1 Ultra I have used adapters that should convert the signal from HDMI 2.1 to DisplayPort 1.4 via Thunderbolt 4 and Apple has what I can only assume is a software block, since it should be more than capable.

Meanwhile I can manage to get my GTX 1080 Ti, a 6 year old GPU, to send a 4k 120hz signal through DisplayPort to HDMI 2.1 on Windows. So Apple just sucks
