M3 Max slow transfer to/from SSD

Hi,
I just noticed something odd last night when transferring ~65GB worth of data.
I used the included SD slot for a microSD card (via SD adapter) and it took around 30min. I figured the microSD might have been the bottleneck so didn’t think much of it.

But after that I backed up the same 65GB to a Samsung T7 Shield with the included T7 USB-C cable and it was still super slow taking approximately the same 30min. So it’s transferring at not even USB2 speeds it seems.

Both the M3 Max and T7 are brand new and I did do some transfers last month (a few tens of gigs) and it was nice and snappy so I didn’t think anything of it.

Any suggestions of what I can try to resolve the issue?
