M3 Pro or M4 for LLM Development?

I want to buy a 14" MacBook Pro to use for developing LLMs and have a budget of 2000€ max.

Would the M3 Pro (1940€) or the standard M4 (1900€) be better suited for this? The M3 Pro comes with 18GB RAM and the M4 with 16GB.

Would either be noticeably faster than the standard M3 in the 1600€ 15" MacBook Air that also has 16GB RAM?

Neither for any reasonably sized models, just get a cheaper laptop and save the extra money to spend on renting cloud GPUs

That makes good sense, but for just getting started with local development, would the M3 Pro be better than the M4?

Get M4, you won’t regret
