I realize it was just announced, but is there much difference between these two?
I suspect for multi-core the M3 Pro wins out with the M4 winning single-core.

I’m looking at an M3 Pro in Apple refurb store for about $500 less than a new M4, so I’m leaning that way.

It depends on what you’re using it for. For something that benefits from multiple cores such as video editing I would go for the M3 Pro. If you’re using it as a general purpose computer to browse the web and do light stuff I would go for the regular M4 because it will be faster single core. I mean, not just single core but the few cores you will be using for most tasks

I'd imagine the extra gpu cores in the m3 pro would be a noticeable difference as well.

Hmm...with the latest benchmarks showing quite a bit faster single and multi-core performance, I'm now looking at the base M4.

you get more than just a new CPU. The m4 base should be faster in single core than the m3 pro and similar fast in multi core.
but the m4 mac has better battery life, brighter display, better front cam (12mp instead of 2,1mp) and should get longer software support. I wouldnt go for m3 mac. 500 usd divided by 10 is only 50 usd a year. But u have all the advantages every day.

The little benchmarks I've seen suggest the M4 (base) is not that much faster than M3 Pro for CPU performance but noticeably slower when it comes to GPU performance. Super confused on which one to get
