So on launch night I got iOS 18 prompts but the update failed each time, I forgot about it and updated a few days ago but it instead updated to 17.7. iPad says I’m up to date…. Is iOS 18 currently pulled, I’m seeing a lot of issues threads but not sure if the actual update is available or not

I was frustrated since I had an older iPad I wanted to transfer to my new M4. It wouldn’t allow me to transfer from my v18 iPad to the 17.7. I decided to turn on beta updates and installed 18.1 b5. The transfer then worked fine and everything seems great.

I'm running 18.1 b5 on the M4 iPad Pro and it works perfectly fine.
If you opt into the beta can you install 18+ on an m4 iPad? I was going to buy one this past weekend but then heard about the issues and decided to hold off. But still anxious to get one. I just want to make sure I can restore from my current iPad, which is on iPadOS 18 already.

Yes, you definitely can. Only 18.0 cannot be installed, 18.1 beta is fine.

Thanks. That’s really good to know. Makes the iPadOS 18 thing much less of an issue. Though still unfortunate for those who just wanted the lastest official release on thier M4 iPad.

Think I’ll see about picking up the new iPad afterall.
