Hi there

I'll be pulling the trigger on the new M4 Mac Mini. I run 3 external Apple monitors for day trading stocks and crypto.

I don't play games or do any graphic design work.

I run 3 screens at all times with multiple applications running. Main apps are Trading View, Browser with many tabs/windows open, Discord, Twitter/X, Outlook. I also have several spreadsheets (excel) open at all times.

I assume these are all pretty simple tasks, yet i have a lot running all at the same time and over 3 screens.

I'm considering the M4 Pro with upgrades to the 14 core CPU, upgrade to 48gb RAM and the 10gb ethernet option.

For my use case, is the CPU and/or RAM upgrade a waste of time? It will future proof me to some extent but i have no idea if i'll ever notice any advantage with these upgrades. I have no idea whether running three external screens places any real extra burden on the CPU/GPU or RAM.

Appreciate all advice!

M4 mini base with 256 gbs of storage and 16 gigabytes otherwise you are gambling away your money with an M4 Pro with 48 gbs of ram! 😂

Please tell me you are kidding…

Appreciate the reply.

The base M4 mini doesn't support three monitors so it has to be the M4 Pro.

My M3 MacAir constantly max's out it's 16gb of RAM and that's with 2 external monitors. The M4 Pro has 24gb which is an improvement over the 16gb in the MacAir but i'm just considering the boost to 48gb to future proof me. From what you're saying it would be a waste and this is highly likely the case. I just have no idea on this front. The increase in RAM is a $600AUD option which is not chump change.

Regarding the CPU upgrade, its only $300AUD which isn't a heap of coin so also considering this to give me more longevity.

The alternative to this is of course a base M4 Pro mini.
