I'm thinking of upgrading from a M1 Mac Air that only has a usb-c port for charging to a M4Pro Macbook pro. I usually use my computer plugged into a monitor via usb-c and add additional charging from a separate usb-c as needed. The newer macbooks use a magsafe3 port for charging. If plugged into a usb-c monitor or charger will they still get some charge from that? I understand it would not be anywhere near as much as they get from the included magsafe3 charger.

It really depends on your monitor because very little of them can charge MacBook Pros at their maximum power(100 for 14inch and 140 for 16inch)

Thank you. It's good to know for short times or to charge over night when traveling I could just use some existing usb-c chargers.
