Does anyone know why the fans are running when the computer is sitting at low temperatures under no workload? I'm coming from a M1 Pro MacBook Pro and the fans never kicked in unless I was really pushing it unlike with my 14 inch M4 Pro (20 GPU).

They are not running all the time but definitely come on more often even when I'm just doing web browsing with a few tabs. I wonder if you think there's something wrong with it?

Here's my M4 Max, browsing this website in bed. I just installed the app, so I have no experience with it, but it says the fans aren't even on.

Do you have High Power Mode enabled?
It's on Automatic. I'm getting used to the low level noise of the 2400rpm so I guess I'll live with it but it'll be nice if they could push a software update to prevent them from kicking in unless it goes over 70° or something. Maybe I'll find a way to setup a manual fan curve on my own too.

I just created a thread for the same thing. But I'm on an m3 max 16" MBP. Even at 50C sometimes it kicks in at 25% speed sometimes it doesn't. And yes also just browsing with tons of tabs, alt tabbing back and forth, video playing. But nothing earth shattering.

I’ve been a licensed TG Pro user for a while, 0 RPM as well, and it seems the app isn’t yet compatible with the new M4 chip. The developer is aware of this issue.

I have 9 apps running, 3 windows, Parallels Desktop with a VM, and TM backup is running - and both Fans as reported by Parallel Tools are at 0 rpm (and I don't hear them). So they clearly do not run all the time.

I don't see any problem with the fan running. I myself set the forced cooling of the chip to +28 degrees Celsius at idle. I haven't encountered any trotling of the chip in my practice.
