Hi chaps..

2008 Mac 3,1 has started rebooting. Blank screen then chime - I don't know what I'm looking at really but logs say shutdown cause 5, there's nothing obvious at the time of shutdown.

I'm clueless but suspecting power supply based on past experience with windows, and the fact the shutdowns occur after powering up.. after a couple of minutes.. or 20 minutes... but once everything is "at operating temperature" there's no interruption. That could be a coincidence however.

It coincides with buying a new Roccat keyboard, but that seems like an innocuous device, and switching to an old Microsoft Arc didn't solve the issue.

I live in a rural area, and the power supply is probably not the best. The Mac is on a surge protected socket.

Haven't really done anything yet. I'll probably hoover out the fans and reseat anything that plugs in - all cards, memory, drives, etc

Can anybody suggest best next steps?

I'd like to keep the machine running if possible. How much does a replacement PSU run these days?

Running Yosemite BTW. TY
