Hey all, not sure that this is in the right thread.

I created a .mac account to use with iChat when i got my new macbook around a month or so ago.

I just wanted to know if .mac accounts are free, I know there is a free trial period, but what happens when that free period ends?

Also is there any way to delete my .mac account?

Thanks.

I'm not too sure how it all works but this is what happened to me...

When my free trial period was almost up, I cancelled the trial so I wouldn't be charged. From then I couldn't use the .mac email address anymore (I thought you could). Though I could still login at the mobile me page, it just said I had to pay to reactivate my account.

So it exists but is dormant, I assume that they delete it after a while (a year?)

.Mac is now MobileMe.

It isn't free - you get a 30-day trial. If you choose not to continue after your trial, your account will sit there for a set time (I forget how long) before being deleted, just in case you wish to re-activate it.

If you have an iPhone, it is worth it.
