First of all, this is my first post in this forum, and I am soon to be a new Mac user in the next month! My wife and I need a new computer and I have always been a Mac fan, just never could take the leap because of some of the specialized windows only applications for our jobs. Now with bootcamp our problems are solved. Was going to wait for Leopard, but October is a long way off, so I will just upgrade to it then. I am also a gamer. Not a hard core gamer, but I do play when I get the chance. We are looking at getting the 17" Mac Book Pro with the 160 gb hard drive, 2gb ram, and the glossy screen. My question is, how will graphic intensive games like FEAR play on this mbp through Bootcamp? Is it choppy or smooth? Is the ATI X1600 w/ 256mb and 2gb ram enough for games like this? Another question I have is about Bootcamp. When Leopard comes around and I install it with the new non beta bootcamp, am I going to have to reinstall windows, or should everything just transfer over? Thanks, and I am sure I will have many more questions for you guys.

It's as good as a similarly spec'd PC, FEAR should run OK on an X1600, though as newer games are released they won't run on it well or at all.
To be honest, you are buying a laptop, for PC gaming you really should get a desktop as you seemingly need to update the graphics card every 18 months or so.

Mbp Duo Core 2ghz, 512 ram, 128vram
I play fear, aoeIII, Generals; Zero hour and they all run pretty good. Mind you im only using 512 ram.
Fear: It sometimes gets a lil slow in a 16 player map and it takes a while to get into games but its pretty good. Just consider 1gb~2gb lol. Everythings at med~low
aoeIII : My settings r at medium but it runs with 40+ frame rates.
Generals: this games not very intence so I run it with full everything.

The only problem I encounter with playing Windows games is that FEAR's sound isn't that great in single player. There are certain cinematic scenes with no sound, I think it's because Apple hasn't fixed the driver for it, or FEAR doesn't recognize it, or both.
