Is an Antivirus really needed for a MAC?

If so, what do you recommend?

AV S/W is useful only if you want to avoid passing along viruses from PC users to PC users - nothing will harm your Mac as of today.

Also, I don't know of any that run on Tiger yet.

With allowances that you are a new member...

I recommend using the Search function of this forum to see whether your question has been asked and answered 100 times before or not.

The answer is No, you don't need anti virus on an OSX Mac.

The only possible reason is if you are in a mixed network environment and you want to trap Windows virii that may come in on your email before you forward to someone else.

Also to us Mac users it's spelled Mac. From other individuals posts MAC has a specific meaning to developers.

I know that there aren't any viruses for the Mac, but I have always played safe than sorry. Using Norton Antivirus, its running in Panther.
