Mac App Store - Software Update Blows Nuts

My internet is working fine, and on this connection I'm not behind a funny firewall or anything that blocks the MAS.

It just sits at this screen and "checks" for new software for hours and hours...

You can copy the Software Update app from Lion to grab updates in the meantime.

Have you tried closing your Internet connection then reconnecting and checking for software? Also are there many people sharing your connection causing you to lose bandwidth?

You should also file a bug report just in case it is an error because well it is a beta.

I agree. Have a current gen 12-Core Mac Pro running the latest DP3.2 update. Software Update takes a long time to check system/app versions and report back. There's also been an annoying bug since Lion 10.7.1 in which updated apps still report as needed update(s) in the Mac App Store. Could be server issues. Already reported bugs to Apple engineers, it's a known issue, sure it will be resolved.

It had better be, as it'll be a hard task getting 10.8.1 out to fix it if the problem is that software updates don't work

Poor performance (although I haven't experienced any) may be down to smaller capacity.
Apple probably has a massive array of load balanced, multiply redundant servers hosting production OS updates and a much smaller set of servers just for beta updates. It's good practice to have as much separation as possible between beta and production environments.

Mine's been wicked slow ever since Snow Leopard. I just ran SU on my Lion mac and my ML mac, and the ML mac was significantly faster.
