The one you have spec'd out is a Rev A machine which is routinely bashed here. Rev B (which will cost you ate least $500 more from Apple) is a technically better machine all round.

If that is all you are going to be doing however, it should be ok. I am sure others will chime in....

Personally, since it is going to be my main computer (I am also going to do iPhone development on it and run Parallels) my funds are going to dictate if I get a Rev B or a Macbook unibody.

Good luck with it.

Just wondering why you would choose the old MBA version and not the new one? The new one is approaching six months since release, and is an amazing computer in every way.

You should definitely understand undervolting via Cool Book, re-application of thermal paste for the CPU, and the list of problems with the original MBA, before you buy the original MBA. Be sure that you want to deal with those problems for the discount of buying the old version.

The rev B MBA can be picked up for $1549 USD refurbished from Apple.com. It is a far superior computer in every way. Every major component was upgraded in the rev B MBA. Non-overheating 17W PENRYN CPU, Nvidia GPU at 4x performance and connect up to 30" ACD, 1066 MHz faster RAM, SATA drive controller with better performance, and an overall system that WORKS. No overheating, no core shutdown, no lockups, no fans blowing 6400 rpm making your MBA sound like a helicopter.

Seriously though, find a way to buy a rev B MBA. It is worth every penny of the upgrade just for the hassle free MBA which will last many years and do everything from HD video to everything you would expect a Mac to do.

Best wishes with whichever Mac you choose.

I just bought the same one you are looking at, through the refurb store and got it for 999.00 it came brand new and is a great buy.

Why spend the extra cash on a B, I went from a B back to a A and I am loving it!
