If I buy a new Mac Book Air is there any way I can boot up a CD/DVD that is attached to the USB port? For example, I would want to install Windows XP on a large SSD drive. Do I just attach the CD drive to the USB port and hold down the option key to select the CD for the boot or is there another procedure to boot from a CD drive via the USB port?

TIA.

You are correct. I held down the Alt key and waited for the cd drive icon to show up, and then selected it. However, I think the new MBA does not officially support XP. I installed win7 x64.
