Hi

Has any one had previous experience in getting you Mac Book Repaired.

2 Weeks agoi sent my Mac Book for a Repair...when i logged a case with Apple with regards to the issues i faced .... they arranged Collection & Return service with UPS and sent my Mac Book for repair to Group 8.

Every thing seems to OK...When i spoke to the technician in Group 8 ...he told me that he didn't found any issues and returning it to me and UPS will deliver my Mac book next day.

So i asked my Wife to stay at home to collect it from UPS....

I don't know why the hell on earth UPS delivered Box to my Next door neighbour...which he gave me in the evening...when i oped the box i can't find the mac book ...box was empty

When i contacted Apple they asked me to contact Grou 8..when i contacted Group 8 They asked me to contact UPS....when i contacted UPS they asked me to contact Group 8..and finally UPS agreed to conduct an investigation......which should take 7 days

Is any experienced similar issue with Apple/Group 8/UPS...

Please advise me on how to proceed....

Is there any way to track Mac book if it is connected to Internet through IP Address

As the Mac Book is a very sentimentally to me

What are the options left for me

Thanks

Neither Apple nor Group 8 had anything to do with losing your MacBook. Your computer was misdelivered by UPS and by UPS alone. Why do you group Apple and Group 8 with UPS?

At any rate, I never use UPS if I have another option. Far and away, UPS is the worst delivery service I know. Their procedures make it easy to make mistakes and they make a lot of them. What is worse, their problem resolution procedures make it difficult to fix problems once you discover them.

Group 8 is UPS's customer. Therefore, UPS wants nothing to do with you. You must contact Group 8 and explain clearly and calmly what happened. Group 8 will then initiate UPS's process for recovering lost packages. Because Group 8 was acting as Apple's agent, you may also want to contact Apple and inform those people about what is going on.

Hi

Thanks for all the support...please advise me how to proceed as i am going crazy...

Initiall when i raised my issue first with Group8..they blamed it on UPS and asked to contact me UPS

When i contacted UPS...they blamed on Group8 and asked me to contact Group8

When i again contacted Group8..they launched security tracker with UPS ....UPS collected the box for security inspection

i got a call from a security inspector from UPS..who informed after inspection that it looks like Group8 didn't packed the box with Mac insde in it...which further denied by UPS Custormer service manager....and said that they just delivered the package which has been handed over to them by Group8

When i contacted Group8..they said they can't do anything...as they sent the box

When i contacted UPS...to ask who authorised them to deliver myparcel to my next door neighbour...they said they got a aggregement with Group8 that group8 authorised them to deliver my package to my neighbour in my absence..

When i contacted APPLE ...They asked me to Group8 again....

When i contacted Group 8 and asked them why they authorised UPS to deliver my parcel to my next door neighbour...they said APPLE Authorised ...

When i contacted APPLE again they said that they can't help in any way as Group8 was a independent company (Apple Authorised Repair Center)

When i contacted Group8..they said to raised a Police Complaint on my Neighbour or UPS......

Now Group8 was trying to blame me as if i was doing all this......

I am not doing this alhough i had mac..as i had to ask my wife to stay at home in 3 ocassions (3 days loss of pay)..with which i ca easily buy a new Mac Book

Guy please advise on how to proceed.............please...as i am going mad with this issue with APPLE

My advise Please make sute to check with APPLE before you sendyou apple product for a repair with APPLE AUTHORISED SERVICE CENTER##

Look, I sympathize with your situation and you are surely not at fault. But my sympathy level has steadily decreased as I read through your responses. You said the situation was being investigated by the responsible parties and that it would take 7 business days. If 7 business days elapse and you don't hear back, call them again.

Personally I think it was an idiotic idea to ask your wife to stay home for a package. Have it delivered to your workplace, or her workplace.

And if it really comes to you calling up someone again, just keep asking to speak to their supervisor until you talk to someone that can help you. They're the ones that are going to be able to help you with your problem. Posting increasingly frantic pleas for help here is going to get you absolutely nowhere.

Easy dude, he's just had his MB lost - no need to call him an idiot.

OP, chances are they'll cover you for your loss - it may ake some time however for them to come up trumps with the cash. At this stage, you're best to apportion blame correctly and work your way up the management until you get reassurance.

Good luck!

Just call the normal support number and explain your case again. If you don't hear what you want to hear, politely ask to speak to their supervisor. The support person on the other line can't hang up on you unless Apple wants some really bad press, so keep calmly asking to speak to their supervisor until you get transferred. Repeat as necessary.

I cannot disagree with you more. We all understand that someone lost the OP's computer. Most of us feel sorry for him. We want him to be made whole. If he continues to behave this way, then it won't happen.

Hi,

Thanks for all your comments....some are supporting and some are

Personally I think it was an idiotic idea to ask your wife to stay home for a package. Have it delivered to your workplace, or her workplace.

On the day of my earlier posting..approx one week ago...i spoke to some senior customer releations manager......the told that he is insvestigating and he need one week time to investigate on this issue with Group8 & UPS and will update me this friday (15/05)

Today he provided me with update........unfortunately i am back to square one again...he told he investigated ..........As this is between Group8 9Apple Authorised) & UPS apple Can't do any thing and he is esculating this issue...with Group8 again....to investigate and it will take another 2-3 weeks to investigate:mad: (From the begining every one is blaming it on another)

Seems funny to me...now i lost hope of getting Mac bac......at the end of the day i look fool for myself...for being to loose my Mac with no mistake...

as some of you even started treating me like idiot............

I requested the senior customer releations manager today to provide me in writing of what he said today...but again he refused to do so.........or even i asked him to connect me to his superior.....again he said the line ends wit him

Please let me know what else i can do to get Mac back...if at all if there is any way.........:apple::apple::apple::apple::apple:

else

Will further update you with the out come of 2weeks of investigation which started today (Hopefully i know the answer..they will say "I have to deal with Group8/UPS as Group8 is Third party....if i call group8...they will say they sent the macand they cant help any further......ect routine ********...which i am experiencing from past 4 weeks)

MY ADVISE....PLEASE DON'T BECOME FOOL LIKE ME BY SIMPLY BELIVING APPLE & ITS PARTNERS....CHECK TWICE WITH APPLE BEFORE SEND YOU MAC'S (APPLE PRODUCTS)....WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT.....BETTER IF YOU CAN GET IT IN WRITING/EMAIL......TO AVOID THE HIDDEN CONDITIONS............IN APPLE EXTENDED SUPPORT AGREEMENT:apple::apple::apple::apple:

Could the neighbor possibly have it?? You never know dude. Sorry to hear it regardless. I just sent my MacBook to the Apple Depot via the Apple Store yesterday, and it's already been repaired and is on the way back to me via FedEx. I'm sorry that you had to rely on UPS. They are very unreliable.

There is nothing wrong to have a package delivered to work. Why don't you follow the advice provided by the shipping company, which is to contact the police. You want to involve police. They'll talk to the neighbor and see whether he is lying or not.

It's not apple because their workers are checked when they leave, and only items registered to the workers are allowed out. That leave it to the shipping company or the neighbor.

Is the box still sealed when you got it? Probably, otherwise you would confront the neighbor.

Is the box still sealed when the neighbor got it? Probably, otherwise they probably would have noted it.

Actually, since you do not want to involve the police, they maybe you are trying to get a new computer?

Hi

Thanks for all the updates......

'Consultant'...thanks for your analysis.....:(
Its sad that you come to that conclusion that i am doing all this for a replacement....as i am not willing to go to police

as i mentioned earlier i am not hesitating to go to police...but i am hesitating to give a complaint againist my neighbour....

Why should i give a complaint on my neighbour...as i hardly know him and also i am not sure what happened with him...

Now as Group8/UPS had my box and all the proofs and apple washed its hands stating that they can't help ....stating Group8 is third party service provider...

I requested them to connect me to the higher manager in Customer care for that they refused to do.......i requested them to atleast give me in writing about all their investigation...etc so that i can approach police...so that i can raise a complaint not particurlarly on my neighbour....but unfortunately...they refused to do so....

As i don't want to drag this to long......i just want to stop this chasing...as i can afford a new computer

My sincere advise to all of you is please check and think twice before you buy apple products particularly Apple Care Protection Plan

Gud Luck...and you are free to make your assumptions......But one thing i just want to tell all of you......I didn't done all this for a replacement....truely i lost my Mac Book..................

Nonsense. Complete and utter nonsense. AppleCare had absolutely nothing to do with your assertion that your computer was delivered to the wrong address. If you did not have AppleCare, then do you believe that UPS would have magically delivered the computer to the correct address?

It was UPS's responsibility to deliver the computer to the correct address. UPS's customer was Group 8. Group 8 is a repair service contractor for Apple. Apple was two companies removed from the error in delivery of your computer. I know people who had priceless and irreplaceable objects delivered to the wrong address by UPS. Your computer is neither priceless nor irreplaceable. However, it was a significant capital investment that will run a hardship on you to replace if you can afford to replace it.

That said, your behavior on this forum raises more questions than it answers. If everything is as you claim, then there is no dispute about the fact that your neighbor had possession of your computer. The only dispute is between your neighbor and Group 8. He said that the box was empty. Group 8 says that the box contained your computer. If Group 8 was correct, then the box should have shown obvious signs of tampering. If your neighbor is correct, then the package would have been pristine. If your neighbor has your computer, then there is a name for what he did. The name is felony.

You have done nothing to force the issue where the force might have been effective. A police report would have been a large force. People who commit felonies go to prison or they have to spend a lot of money to stay out of prison. Why are you more concerned about the person that you believe committed a felony against you than you are about recovering your computer?

This gets down to an issue of credibility. Your story lacks credibility.

Hi,

I am not hear to prove my credibility.....
I am not againist approaching police....as i mentioned earlier...why should i raise a complaint aganist my neighbour...

When i asked Apple/Group8/UPS to provide me in writing...about all the security investigations and outcome of their investigations so that i can approach police...they refused me to provide those details....they even take the box in which computer is shipped to me......

Well for those question my credibility...fine i welcome there comments...and advise them to try their luck by sending to mac books to repair with Apple/group8 ...

For me as i am a customer of Apple (not Group8) and i paid apple ...i hold apple as responsible for this..............

Gud Luck

You know what man, I really think you got to go to the police at this stage. If your neighbour is guilt free he won't mind co-operating with the plice in their investigation.

Someone stole your laptop, that's a criminal act. Weeks without any resolve means that the chance of the thief getting away are becoming stronger..

The issue is not about your credibility. If you are telling the truth, then the issue is about recovering your computer. In this episode Group 8 is the victim. You are Apple's customer. You are also behaving as an uncooperative witness. There are ample nodes that will indicate when and where your computer went missing:
  • UPS weighs its packages. An empty box weighs less than a box holding a computer. How much did the box weigh when UPS picked it up? How much did the box weigh when you received it? If the two weights are the same, then Group 8 shipped an empty box. If the package weighed less when you received it, then someone removed your computer from the package.
  • There is no doubt or dispute that you neighbor accepted delivery of your package from UPS. If the computer had been removed during shipping, then the package would have shown obvious signs of tampering. If there were no obvious signs of tampering, then it is unlikely that you package had been opened. Your neighbor knows whether or not your package showed signs of tampering when he accepted delivery.
  • If your package showed no signs of obvious tampering when you received it, then it is likely that you received the package exactly as Group 8 shipped it. If the package you received showed signs of tampering, then someone opened it and removed your computer. It is curious that you have never indicated that the package had been tampered with.
None of this is either rocket science or brain surgery. You can rest assured that Apple, Group 8, and UPS each have access to all of this information. My advice to you is to stop ragging on Apple and Group 8. They know the truth. You do as well. It is not that difficult for the rest of us to figure it out.

This is very simple.

UPS weighs packages at acceptance. If the box scanned in at 10 pounds or so, then Group 8 shipped you your Macbook. If it scanned at 0lbs (or anything under about 6lbs), then Group did not ship you your Macbook.

If the weight was 0lbs, then you have a complaint with Group 8 and Apple. They owe you your Macbook (or a replacement).

If the weight was 10lbs, then it was stolen somewhere between UPS and you. If that's the case, then you have a complaint with UPS and Group 8 (as group 8 will have to work with UPS on your behalf, as the shipper).
