I bought a used mac book air, and it has the other people's info on it. I wanted to rerun set up assistant because it has the other peoples settings on it. Is there an easier way to get rid of their settings and start fresh without reinstalling? Any help needed, be fair with me I admit I am a complete mac Newb trying to cross over from the dark side.

Go to system prefs>accounts>make new acct with admin rights
now logoff of current acct and log in as new acct just created and go back in to sys prefs>accounts and delete old acct..... that will take care of everything
if you are trying to clean all network and settings like that you may need to whip out those restore cd's and under options choose erase and install or something of that nature..... or you can always just go and change one by one of the settings

another method would be to boot into single user mode (hold command+S on bootup), and type the following commands:
mount -uw / (hit enter)
rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone (hit enter)
shutdown -h now (hit enter)
which would allow you to go through the Apple Setup again and create a new admin / register the computer to you...then you could delete the other users..
it accomplishes the same as the process outlined above, except you also register it with apple...

Mine came with the Superdrive. In 6 months, I used it twice. Sold it on the 'Marketplace' forum. Spent the money on beer. I'm happy with my decision.
But yes, it did work well, and was small enough to fit into a small bag with the MBA. If you buy a used one, check the cord where it enters the back. They're known to fray.

Help I purchased one of those "pond shop" specials. A mcbook that requires a code to accessd the system controls. Is there anyway to reset this. Help please
