Hi-

I've got the original core duo macbook, and every once in a while the screen will flicker for a few seconds for no apparent reason.

there doesn't really seem to be any pattern or anything, it doesn't matter how long it's been on, if it's plugged in or on battery, how bright the screen is....

anybody else have a problem like this?

Thanks.

Yes i have the same problem..

When you say flicker, do u mean from dim to bright and bright to dim? because thats what happens to my book.

Well I think its been happening for the last 4 months or so.. Its not really a major problem but it is annoying..

I've been having the same issue, I suspect it's a problem with the backlight for the LCD display, either a bad connection, or maybe a bad ballast...

I can't seem to "make" it flicker on command, so I'm not sure how to bring it in for service, short of waiting for the whole thing to die.

Call Apple, they know about the issue and will fix it. I got mine fixed a few months ago, along with the yellowing plastic replaced on the palm rest. There were a ton of posts about this a while back.

mine did this and took it to apple they replaed the lcd and inverter. good so far.

initally they said 2 weeks, told them no. then it was well we might have the parts (he didnt check)so a week and well have them in and then well fix it, i said no. then it was we have the parts it will be a week, i said no. then it was well have it back to you by sunday ( i went on a thursday) i said ok since i was going outta town that weekend. so 4 days but i had to be pushy about it.
