Hi

Last two days I tried logging into icloud via a pc web browser.
It asked me to verify my email address, but would not let me use my xxxx@mac.com address.

Your Apple ID email address must be verified before you can sign in. Verify the address below or choose a different address to use as your Apple ID.

I couldn't use my other personal address as that is set for notifications so that wouldn't be accepted.
So I used xxxx@icloud.com. This worked and changed my apple ID to icloud.com so I logged into the appid https://appleid.apple.com/account/manage website and it shows me I have used/could use my mac.com address for an ID but when I select it, it says:

Your Apple ID cannot be updated at this time. Try again later.

What gives?

iCloud is having a hissy fit.

Licking people out. Someone throw a monkey wrench into the soup? As in bad time to go offline or whatever.

No backup. No restore. Won't accept my Apple ID pswd. Can't download install 12.1b5 either.

I had the same problem yesterday. I had to switch everything to use @icloud.com. Now works okay. But no warning.. and when I contacted Apple Support they had no idea what I was talking about.

Can login to icloud but my apple id couldn't be changed from icloud to mac.com with the same error:
Your Apple ID cannot be updated at this time. Try again later.

So I tried using the me.com address and it worked - and now I cannot change it from me.com to icloud.com or mac.com with the same error. Something is broken. This is the worst thing about Apple. Stuff changes and they have no support org which is aware and there's basically no-one to talk to. It should just work.

Same issue. Logging into the iCloud website I' told I need to verify my account. I answer the security questions and it sends a verification email to my .mac address, which I have no access to and cannot re-establish as a mailbox. I can change it to send the verification email to .icloud.com, which I receive, but the end result is the above described error (NOTE: .mac emails don't arrive here).

Apple support was sincere and tried to help but their solution didn't solve it. There's a thread on the internet that claims Apple prevents changes to email verifications for 30 days for security purposes. However some of the posts here have me doubting whether that's true.

Curiously, I have no trouble accessing iCloud documents from an iPad on iOS12. No security check. Issue seems confined to the website.

If anyone learns something new, I'm all ears...

I changed mine from mac.com to icloud.com to fix the issue. Then I couldn't change back to mac.com. So I tried me.com and that switch worked. Now I can't change back to icloud.com or mac.com. Maybe I need to try again in a month?!

Yup other access is fine - its just the web interface that's causing all these issues. FWIW I can access email via the web and initiate emails from mac.com and I am receiving emails to my mac.com address. Its just my appleid which appears to have a problem. Also I can login to icloud.com using my mac.com address - which I thought wouldn't work if I changed my appleid. Very poor

@DB2k - That’s the same for me. All the different emails still work. I just continue doing things the way I have been.
Maybe it’s an issue on their servers.
