Mac compatable PCIe USB cards

My USB subsystem seems to be having problems (https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1115900/) so I have decided to get a internal PCIe USB card to bypass the problem.

Which ones are Mac Pro Comparable? as USB 3 seems backward compatable maybe this is the way to go, whitch USB 3 cards are Mac compatable.

i did do a bit of googeling without mutch luck.

Did some research for you. Since the hope is using pcie card will be a good work around. I found the ones below. 5 choices that should work. One choice the lowest cost that may work. Just remember this is a work around so don't buy 3 or 4 of the better ones just pick one and hope since we are not sure what we are working around it is possible that nothing will work. In my case I found the box I used the one from sonnet. see photo

yes I think it will work, but My hope is your problem was the same as mine and you will work around it the same way. I have put a few cards in the machine some are harder to seat then others. I found lots of light and pulling the hdd trays out of the way make it easier. I had one pcie card that was a P.I.T.A. to seat but it was an esata card not the usb card.

Remember we have different model mac pros mine is a 2010 so they are a little bit different.

Thanks, are you saying the main issue is seating the card? From my further resurch it seems the NEC 7... chipset does not work with Snow Leaperd and the Sonnet one seems to be the safest bet. I guess the question is what chipset do apple use for there recent macs. Looks like not only do you need a deep wallet to get a Mac you also need a deep one to run one;(.

I use the caldigit USB 3.0 one. Only problem is that you need to wait a few days after each OSX x.x update to get new drivers to work. Also it takes a second or 2 longer to mount a usb 3 drive on the desktop than plugging the same drive into the usb port, but once up it is faster for sure.
