Mac-compatible Sprint cellphones?

Time to upgrade my phone. Anyone have any recommendations for a Mac-compatible bluetooth Sprint cellphone? These may not even exist, and I certainly wouldn't trust any of Sprint's own recommendations.

The A900 works. I don't use it via BT, but it works fine with the usb.
 
my samsung a920 works with my powerbook. the bluetooth allows for DUN if u have the plan. If not, it will work for a few times, then they will cut you off... works with the cable too...talk about high speed thought!!!!!! :)
 
Well, I have the samsung a900 (great phone by the way), and bluetooth works fine, but the thing is it's not supported by isync which is my biggest gripe with it. You can exchange files and everything, anyone know if there's a way to hook it up isync? or do we have to wait till apple makes it compatible?

ps- if you go with the a900, make sure you update the software, you can do it right on your phone (another great feature, no more going to the sprint store!), I've already been through 3 updates, and all of them were bluetooth related.

Knowing you might want to go on EV-DO (sweet data speeds), it's always good to look at sprintpcsinfo.com

All EV-DO phones on Sprint Support tethering, but you are limited to 40 mb/month on EV-DO power vision. After that, you get charged. THis is possible because all the EV-DO phones have multiple logon names based on how the handset is being used...this is actually on the firmware level.

There is only one EV-DO phone on sprint that can't differnetiate between handset and tethered data: Sprint PPC 6700. I have one and I use it with pocketmac to sync. Works perfectly because it supports EV-DO, and it can't differentiate with the old 1x data. I only pay 10 bucks/month for data...before my corporate volume discount!

That, plus I can peak at 1mbps download speeds

A good point, Sprint now has the ability to 'know' when you are using EV-DO on your phone or using it to tether to a laptop (NAI), and will charge you (or not let you get on at all..) unless you have a new 'phone as modem' plan. When I found out about this I was pissed, thinking I had a great deal getting a $20 a month unlimited EV-DO, and was going to use it for internet access to my ibook, not anymore..

p.s. - if you get the samsung a900 as I do, you can disable NAI, To disable the secondary Modem NAI, go to Menu > Settings > Display, and press 0 to access a hidden menu. Enter 040793 as the security code. At the following menu, scroll to Toggle NAI and chose Off Modem NAI, followed by OK. Then power the phone off immediately. When you turn the phone back on, Modem NAI will be disabled. Workes for me, another reason I love my a900!

Another beautiful thing for people who are Grandfathered on vision on EV-DO (only possible with the 6700). I'm paying only 15/month for all my data services, including unlimited text messaging.

I like the A900, and I've heard of the samsung thing going on it to disable the NAI. I think only the early samsungs can do it. Upcoming releases won't allow it.

Thanks for the tip man!!!

I just got the a900, but im still having trouble connecting to EVDO services. The phone is synced and all, but the problem occurs when the phone attempts to connect...i get an error 67 message, stating that the username/password is incorrect. I know i have power vision service, so im sort of perplexed as to why it's not functioning....any suggestions???
 
I'll be getting the a900 soon, and I currently have free unlimited PCS Vision, so we'll see what happens when I do an ESN swap. I hope I'm not too late.

Well, make sure it is working with your phone first. After that, you have to set up DUN (dial up networking) through system preferences on your computer. You can do it through usb or bluetooth. It doesn't matter what user name or password you put. When connecting your phone , it will give the proper ones automatically, so just put whatever. The important thing though is to put "#777" (no quotes) on telephone number, that's crucial. Everything else should be a snap. I'll see if I can look up that website that explained everything, I'll post here if I find it.
