Hi,
I am planning to do fresh install of High Sierra on a new SSD. When ever I did this in past, I used same name for computer/account name as before. However I was advised by my friend that I should use new name for fresh install, otherwise the computer gets confused about ownership even though the spellings are same.
1) Is that true?
2) Can I recover my data from previous Time Machine drive (using Migration Assistant) after I change my name?
3) Can I still login to my account on old drive (osx Sierra) and
4) Can I erase the new drive (osx High Sierra) using disk utility on Sierra drive, if I do not like HS (as it seems there are still lot of problems involving Trim and sleeping the mac)

Is your friend referring to a Windows based system? His advice would make more sense on that platform. As for reusing the same user name I do it all the time on my Macs, Windows, and UNIX systems. Never had any problems.
