We regret to announce that Mac Developer Journal has ceased publication after its the Summer 2004 issue.

I guess I am too late to subscribe. The Apple's Developer site will have to do for now. This will be a good year to start developing Mac OS X apps with all the new capabilities of Tiger. Dashboard or Automator Magazine anyone?

I wish!

I've just started getting into OS X programming (Apple Select developer as of late October) and was looking forward to MDJ as a resource. Too bad it tanked so quickly!

MDJ -- We hardly knew ye

I already asked for the refund (probably to go towards a safari booksheld subscription at O'Reilly's) as I don't have an interest in Macworld magazine.

MDJ was a great magazine. I have all of them from the initial digital premiere issue. It filled a great gap between blindly stumbing through the Apple docs and buying full books that only covered normal, introductory stuff. Articles peeked into niches of the OS, as well as mainstream dev topics, and were generally well written at various level of expertise with diverse authors and great examples.

I hope that some publisher, possibly an online-only publisher that *gets* the business model of online-only and developers, decides to take this niche up and get into the game. I'd be happy to hitch on to another magazine fitting this profile. It's a loss to the dev community for Apple that it ended so quickly. I feel it's also a short-sighted and foolish error by Macworld to seize that group of people that is probably going to grow as the platform is growing.

Mactech is ok, but it's just not as in-depth as MDJ is/was. I would personally see if you can buy the back-issues on Zinio. They are worth it.
